The Kano State Executive Council has approved N51.5 billion for vital infrastructure and public service delivery projects across the state, including road rehabilitation and traffic light upgrades
The Kano State Executive Council has given the green light for the release of a substantial sum of N51.5 billion dedicated to the execution of critical infrastructure and public service delivery projects throughout the state.
This announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, in Kano.
According to the official statement, the 27th Executive Council meeting resulted in the approval of N5.4 billion specifically for the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of several key roads within Kano metropolis.
These roads include the stretch from Mumbayya House to Tal’udu Junction, Gadon Kaya, Yahaya Gusau Road, and Sharada Road.
Furthermore, the council earmarked N3.4 billion for the provision and installation of wireless solar-powered traffic lights across the Kano metropolitan area.
These approvals underscore the administration’s commitment to sustainable urban development and improved public service delivery,” stated Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa.
This initiative falls under the state’s Urban Renewal Programme, aimed at modernizing the city’s infrastructure.
The statement also detailed additional financial approvals for the construction of Miller Road to Mission Road and the renovation of significant public facilities.
These include the Kano Educational Resources Department and the Governor’s Lodge located in Kaduna.
In a move to bolster the state’s power sector, the Council approved N1.46 billion for the upgrading and modernisation of the State’s Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, situated in Sharada Phase I Industrial Layout.
“These approvals underscore the administration’s commitment to sustainable urban development and improved public service delivery,” the statement concluded, highlighting the government’s focus on enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Kano State through strategic investments in crucial sectors.
