Katsina police arrest woman in Green House mall for shoplifting, recovering stolen items worth over ₦10 million
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 27-year-old Hadiza Ibrahim for allegedly stealing goods valued at ₦10,102,000 at Green House shopping mall.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday, noting that the police acted following a report on March 4 from the Chief Security Officer of Green House about a suspected shoplifter.
“The suspect was captured on CCTV footage dishonestly taking various items from a shop. Analysing the footage allowed us to closely monitor and arrest her at the scene,” the statement said.
A subsequent search of Ibrahim’s residence recovered 74 sets of shoes, 37 veils, 67 sportswear sets, 54 children’s outfits, 123 caps, 315 sets of socks, 45 women’s wrappers, 9 handbags, 3 cartons of spaghetti, 24 bottles of perfume, 5 cartons of soap, assorted jewellery, and cooking seasonings and spices, all identified by the rightful owners.
Ibrahim reportedly confessed to the offences and has been charged for prosecution.
The Katsina Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their diligence and urged shop owners to remain vigilant.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
