Five people were injured in a multiple-vehicle accident involving a truck, cars and tricycles at Toll Gate along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State

At least five persons sustained injuries in a multiple-vehicle crash along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.

The accident occurred on Sunday at the Toll Gate area.

It involved a truck, six cars and two tricycles.

The crash was confirmed on Monday by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps.

The agency’s spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, gave details of the incident.

He said the crash happened around 11:35 a.m.

A total of 11 people were involved in the accident.

The victims included eight males and three females.

Five persons sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Three injured victims were taken to the General Hospital, Ota.

Two others were taken to private hospitals by relatives.

Other occupants escaped without injuries.

Akinbiyi said the accident was caused by brake failure.

He explained that a truck lost control after its brakes failed.

The truck reportedly rammed into several vehicles on the highway.

The affected truck carried registration number TRN 71 XB.

Emergency responders later cleared the scene.

All damaged vehicles were towed to restore traffic flow.

The agency warned motorists to avoid speeding.

It also advised drivers to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy.

The Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway remains one of the busiest transport corridors in the region.

Accidents along the route often lead to traffic disruptions and safety concerns.

Authorities have continued to call for stricter road safety compliance among motorists.
