The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 21, when the Human Resources Manager and Chief Security Officer of the affected schools reported receiving threatening WhatsApp messages from an unidentified number.

Reports were submitted at the Ikeja Divisional Police Headquarters.

Following the alerts, Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh personally mobilised a tactical team, including officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit, as well as the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), to the schools.

A meticulous search of classrooms, offices, halls, playgrounds and surrounding areas found no explosive devices or hazardous materials, after which the facilities were declared safe for academic and administrative activities.

CP Jimoh ordered an intensified investigation to identify the perpetrators and assured the public that offenders would face prosecution.

Combined police teams have been permanently deployed to the affected schools to provide 24-hour protection for students, staff, and property.
