LASUSTECH Global Impact

Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, LASUSTECH is thriving, achieving global impact through its focus on innovation, infrastructure development, and academic excellence

Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) is rapidly establishing itself as a leading institution in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector, driven by the transformative leadership of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya.

Since his appointment in September 2022, the internationally acclaimed scientist has steered LASUSTECH towards significant growth, enhanced transparency, and increasing global relevance.

The university’s strategic IMPACT Vision, encompassing infrastructure, manpower, productivity, academic quality, state alignment, and entrepreneurial partnerships, is the cornerstone of this progress.

This vision is evident in LASUSTECH’s comprehensive academic programs, efficient operations, and consistent academic calendar, with 41 active programs poised to graduate their first cohort in 2026.

“Our goal is clear: to build a university that not only competes globally but sets the pace for innovation and societal transformation,” stated Prof. Odusanya.

Significant infrastructural advancements are underway, including TETFund-funded projects like a central research lab, professorial building, and university auditorium.

The Lagos State government is supporting the construction of a 750-capacity auditorium and student arcade, while notable contributions from institutions like the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila are enhancing the Surulere campus.

Academically, LASUSTECH emphasizes entrepreneurship, empowering students who are already achieving national recognition in competitions and demonstrating exceptional innovation, as evidenced by their Hackathon 2025 and NFVCB 2024 victories.

International collaborations are flourishing through MoUs with Kumasi Technical University and Akenten Appiah University in Ghana.

Strategic tech partnerships with SAIL Innovation Lab, Huawei, and Dataphyte provide students with access to cutting-edge skills aligned with industry demands.

LASUSTECH’s robust research agenda is gaining momentum, with numerous lecturers securing institutional and national grants.

The university’s global standing is further validated by its inclusion in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking and World University Ranking.

Committed to social impact, LASUSTECH actively engages in community outreach, including food distribution and skills training for Lambo Lasuwon residents.

The university also prioritizes staff welfare through comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, medical grants, car loans, and timely bonus payments.

Key programs, including Mass Communication, Estate Management, Insurance, and Banking & Finance, have achieved full professional accreditation, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for professional practice.

Despite recent attempts to undermine his administration, Professor Odusanya remains resolute. “These distractions will not deter us; we are focused on positioning LASUSTECH for global recognition,” he affirmed.

As LASUSTECH celebrates International Workers’ Day, Professor Odusanya’s mid-term stewardship exemplifies transformative leadership, propelling the university to set new benchmarks in higher education both in Nigeria and internationally.
