Retired Brigadier General Lawal Bature Mohammed, former Zamfara CPG Commander, has died after surviving a bandit ambush last year

Brigadier General Lawal Bature Mohammed (rtd), the former Zamfara Community Protection Guards, CPG, Commander, has died, following injuries sustained during a bandit ambush last year.

The late general, popularly known as Dan Gusau, suffered bullet wounds during the attack.

He was subsequently flown to Egypt for medical treatment, according to reports.

Brigadier General Mohammed was widely respected for his leadership of the Zamfara CPG, an organisation formed to support local security efforts amid rising banditry in the region.

His death marks a significant loss for security personnel and communities in Zamfara State.
