Luka Modric joins AC Milan after Real Madrid exit, citing his desire to stay in Europe and Milan’s compelling project as key reasons for the move
New AC Milan signing, Luka Modric, has revealed why he chose to join the Serie A club following his departure from Real Madrid.
The Croatian midfielder recently ended his long stint with Real Madrid and signed a one-year deal with AC Milan, where he will wear the No. 14 shirt in the upcoming season.
Explaining his decision, Modric said he wanted to continue playing competitive football in Europe and was convinced by Milan’s direct approach.
“Why AC Milan? I wanted to stay in Europe, continue playing competitive football,” Modric said, speaking via MadridXtra.
“I had some other offers but when Milan showed up it was clear for me. I was up to it since the first moment. It impressed me how they came to Croatia to present me the project and everything. That was very important to me. Milan is one of the biggest clubs in Europe.”
Modric is preparing for Milan’s pre-season clash with Arsenal scheduled for next Wednesday.
