Mahmoud Yugudu Senate CBN approval as lawmakers confirm him Deputy Governor following screening and committee recommendation in Abuja
The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has confirmed Mahmoud Isa Yugudu as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria following deliberations at plenary held in the National Assembly complex.
The Mahmoud Yugudu Senate CBN approval was reached after lawmakers considered a report submitted by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, told the chamber that the nominee successfully passed the screening process and was found suitable for the role.
He said Yugudu demonstrated the competence, experience and technical understanding required to serve effectively in the apex financial institution.
“We carefully screened the nominee and found him qualified for the position. He possesses the required experience and knowledge to function effectively as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” Abiru stated.
Following the presentation, senators adopted the committee’s recommendation and confirmed the appointment through a voice vote.
The approval follows a formal request sent by President Bola Tinubu to the upper legislative chamber seeking confirmation of the nominee.
The development completes the legislative stage of Yugudu’s appointment process as the Central Bank continues to strengthen its leadership structure.
