Michelle Alozie signs with Chicago Stars until 2028, bringing Super Falcons experience, versatility, and leadership to the NWSL club
Nigerian international Michelle Alozie has signed a contract with the Chicago Stars, securing her services through the 2028 NWSL season.

The Super Falcons forward and versatile attacker brings a wealth of professional and international experience to the club.
Chicago Stars general manager Richard Feuz praised Alozie’s versatility and leadership.
“Michelle is a serious player who can perform in both attack and defence. Her experience and leadership will make her a valuable asset as we build towards the 2026 season,” he said.
Alozie expressed her excitement at joining the club and the city.
“I am really excited to join Chicago Stars for this next chapter of my career. There’s a lot happening here, and I’m ready to contribute, grow with the team, and help Chicago reach its full potential,” she said.
The 26-year-old described herself as a player capable of performing anywhere on the pitch.
“I can play anywhere for the team. In attack, I’m sharp, aggressive, and look to score. In defence, I fight hard and try to contribute wherever needed. I will give 100% every time,” she added.
Alozie began her professional career with Houston Dash in 2021 as a national team replacement player before securing a full roster spot.
She featured in 114 minutes across four matches in her rookie season, scored two goals in ten games in 2022, and helped Dash reach their first NWSL playoffs.
In 2023, she emerged as one of Houston’s top scorers with four goals.
Over her NWSL career, Alozie has played 75 regular-season matches, scored seven goals, and provided two assists, establishing herself as a dynamic and reliable presence on the field.
Internationally, Alozie has represented Nigeria since June 2021, scoring her first goal that year.
She has made 26 appearances for the Super Falcons, scoring twice, and featured at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.
Alozie will officially join the Chicago Stars at their new home, Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Illinois, in 2026.
She is enthusiastic about engaging with the local community and fans.

“I know Chicago is a great sports city, and I’m excited to meet the fans and be part of this community,” she said.
In a decisive move aimed at alleviating the economic burdens of retired public servants, Zamfara State Governor, Dr Dauda Lawal, has officially approved increased monthly pension payments for all former workers from both state and local government offices. The approval follows an extensive financial review of retirees’ living conditions, with particular attention to those in lower-income brackets who have been disproportionately affected by the prevailing cost-of-living crisis.
The decision was precipitated by the findings and recommendations of a special committee empaneled to evaluate the welfare situation of pensioners across the state. The committee’s report highlighted acute financial distress among aging retirees and called for immediate remedial action. In response, the state government has authorized a substantive upward adjustment in monthly pension stipends.
This increment aligns seamlessly with the Federal Government’s Minimum Wage Act of 2024, which explicitly recommended an additional monthly sum of at least N32,000 for pensioners. Governor Lawal has opted for full implementation of this advisory for all retired state and local government employees a policy intervention expected to benefit thousands of households across Zamfara. The state government has subsequently issued binding directives to all relevant agencies to ensure the expeditious and seamless disbursement of the enhanced payments without procedural delays.
Speaking on the development, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, characterized the policy as a tangible demonstration of Governor Lawal’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for both active and former government workers. According to the Commissioner, the administration operates on the principle that dignified retirement includes access to basic necessities and financial comfort. Beneficiaries across all local government areas have been assured of prompt payment once implementation commences.
