Over 1,000 beneficiaries attended Nasara Women Development Foundation also known as Nasara Foundation’s Free Dental Medical Outreach which held recently at the Kebbi State Teaching Hospital, Kalgo.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Hajiya Bilkisu Muhammad Nasir, the procedures that were conducted in the outreach ranged from oral health talks, checking of vital signs, scaling and polishing (washing and whitening of teeth), teeth extraction (removal of decayed teeth), filling (filling of cavities), replacement of missing teeth (artificial teeth replacement) as well as referral of major cases.
While launching the two-day outreach, the Founder of the Foundation, who is also the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, described the initiative as, “a major milestone in ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all.”
Hajiya Zainab stated that, “We are proud to share another important milestone in our mission to improve lives, especially for girls, women, youth, and the elderly across Kebbi State.
“This outreach reflects our commitment to closing the healthcare gap across our communities. Every smile we restore today reminds us that no one should be left behind when it comes to quality care. Nasara Foundation will keep supporting initiatives that promote dignity, well-being, and inclusion for all residents of Kebbi State. Together, we are creating healthier smiles and stronger communities.”
Speaking at the end of the outreach, the team lead of the health personnel, Dr. Nasiru Sanusi, who is also a Dentist described the outreach as a way of giving back to the society.
While appreciating the Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Sanusi stated that, “As a dentist who has been practicing in this state for a while, I have seen what neglected oral health can do to patients, a simple tooth cavity can transform into a serious orofacial infection that can result in morbidity and mortality due to poverty and lack of dental and oral health awareness.
“I was so happy when Nasara Foundation agreed to partner with us to carry out this dental outreach and I can tell you that about 1,164 patients benefited from the outreach, which lasted for two consecutive days.”
Some of the personalities that attended the flagging- off include, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Kebbi State Teaching Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Nuradeen; Personal Assistant to the wife of the state’s governor, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Bagudu; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Maikurata; and Chairman, Kalgo Local Government, Yahaya Kuka.
