The Nigerian Navy has made a significant move in its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Lagos State, arresting 27 suspected drug peddlers in a coordinated raid.

The operation, conducted by the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, targeted a notorious criminal safe haven in the Apapa area.

According to a statement released on the Navy’s verified Facebook page, the raid took place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Gidan Drama, located on Malu Road, Apapa.

The operation successfully dislodged the criminal hideout and resulted in the arrest of 27 individuals, including three females and 24 males.

During the raid, naval operatives seized a variety of illicit substances, including Cannabis sativa, Canadian loud, tramadol, and cough syrup with codeine. The successful operation underscores the Navy’s commitment to curbing drug-related activities in the region.

Following the arrests, the 27 suspects and the seized exhibits were handed over to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“On Saturday 5 April 2025, the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT conducted a coordinated raid and dislodged an identified criminal safe haven in Gidan Drama, located at Malu Road, Apapa.

During the raid, a total of 27 suspected drug peddlers comprising of 3 females and 24 males were arrested with Cannabis sativa, Canadian loud, tramadol and cough syrup with codeine.

Consequently, on Wednesday 9 April 2025, the 27 suspects and exhibits were handed over to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for possible prosecution,” the statement confirmed.

This operation highlights the Nigerian Navy’s proactive approach in addressing drug trafficking and its determination to maintain law and order in Lagos State.
