Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi says team is focused and confident ahead of Nigeria vs Uganda AFCON 2025 clash in Fez

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has described the mood within the Nigerian camp as positive and focused ahead of today’s Group C showdown against Uganda at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Besiktas midfielder told reporters that confidence is high among the squad, with players concentrating solely on the immediate task rather than being distracted by speculation or off-field matters.

“The focus is on the next game,” Ndidi said, emphasising that preparation and concentration remain the team’s top priorities.

He credited the squad’s unity and belief for fostering a strong atmosphere, elements he described as crucial at this stage of the competition.

Reflecting on his recent goal for Nigeria  his first in several years for the national team Ndidi expressed gratitude and emotion.

He dedicated the moment to his late father, whose guidance had been pivotal in his football journey.

Ndidi also revealed that his celebration was inspired by memories of his childhood, including his father’s admiration for Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu.

While fans may be anticipating another signature gesture, the midfielder said he will reserve future celebrations until he scores again.
