Obele-Kolade Mushin Lawanson Residents Reject Imposition Of Henry Ojo As CDA Chairman

The residents of Obele-Kolade, Mushin, Lawanson, have frowned against the imposition of former Chairman of the Community Development Association, Henry Ojo, as the new chairperson of the Association by the Chairman of Mushin local government area, Hon Emmanuel Bamgboye.
The people, who took out en masse to the street, on Friday, to vehemently express their grievances, opposed the imposition of the former chair, stating that they must be given the liberty to elect their new chairperson through credible election.
Our correspondent in Lagos, who monitored the protest this morning, reported that they (the residents) were seen carrying placards reading different solidarity inscriptions to press home their demands.
The residents, however, lamented that he performed woefully as the former chairperson and accused him of mismanaging the funds belonging to the community and diverting government palliatives in all forms to himself.
One of the residents said: “The people of Obele-Kolade Mushin Lawanson are insistent on having elections into their CDA. Mushin Local Govt Chairman is trying to impose a very unpopular and unlike person, who happened to be the former CDA chairman.
“His tenure was bereft with incompetence and greed. It is silly impositions like this that almost cost us at the last elections. “On this matter, we believe that the people must be allowed to vote for whoever they desire.”
Another resident, who spoke during the protest, said: “We are aware of the fact that Hon Emmanuel Bamgboye, the Chairman of Mushin local government area, is trying to impose Mr Henry Ojo as the CDA chairman for Obele-Kolade Lawanson Mushin.
“As far as we know, Henry Ojo was the former Chairman who performed woefully during his tenure. He was busy spending community money without accounting and keeping most of the palliatives coming from the government to himself.
“As a result of this negative development, the community despise him and he know he cannot win in an election hence his imposition. All we want is democracy and free and fair election to choose another person we want.”
