Ogun CSO Urges Urgent Healthcare and Infrastructure Reform
Ogun State Healthcare infrastructure development is urged by a CSO calling for improved hospitals, roads and transparency in governance across the state
A civil society organisation, Lygel Youths & Leadership Initiative, has urged the Ogun State Government to prioritise healthcare and infrastructure development as part of broader efforts to improve living standards across the state on Monday, 18 May 2026.

The call, which forms part of a renewed push for Ogun State Healthcare infrastructure development, was contained in a statement signed by the group’s Executive Director, Lekan Oladapo.
The organisation expressed concern over the condition of healthcare facilities, local government administration, and public infrastructure in several communities across Ogun State.
It noted that despite ongoing renovation projects, access to quality healthcare remains a significant challenge for many residents, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
The group further stated that numerous Primary Healthcare Centres across the state continue to suffer from inadequate facilities and a shortage of medical personnel, limiting their effectiveness in delivering essential services.
In its statement, the organisation challenged the current administration to demonstrate the construction of a fully functional state hospital built from the ground up within the last seven years, describing it as a key benchmark for healthcare progress.
It also highlighted concerns about grassroots healthcare delivery, linking ongoing challenges to weaknesses in local government administration and coordination.
Beyond healthcare, the group raised concerns about the state of infrastructure in border and industrial communities, particularly along the Agbara–Atan–Lusada corridor, where it described road conditions as a major barrier to economic growth and investment.
According to the organisation, Ogun State’s strategic proximity to Lagos should naturally position it for stronger industrial expansion and infrastructural development if properly managed.
The statement urged the government to adopt a more strategic and long-term approach to border town development and public infrastructure planning.
It also called for greater transparency and accountability in public project execution, stressing the need for citizens to have improved access to information on government spending and procurement processes.
The group maintained that strengthened healthcare systems, improved infrastructure, and more effective grassroots governance would significantly enhance public trust and accelerate development across the state.
It further appealed to oversight agencies to ensure strict monitoring of public funds and development projects in order to guarantee accountability and value for money in governance.
