Speaking to journalists on Monday during the ongoing 50th-anniversary celebrations of Ondo State, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the state’s readiness to independently regulate electricity distribution following the Federal Government’s transfer of regulatory powers to states including Ondo, Enugu, Ekiti, and Imo.

The governor said the administration is focusing on strengthening regulation, improving distribution, and collaborating with power distribution companies (DISCOs) to enhance electricity supply.

“Yes, we are not generating power for now, but in terms of regulation and distribution, we are very active. We have the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and we regulate and interface with DISCOs to ensure effective supply,” Aiyedatiwa stated.

Highlighting efforts to curb estimated billing, he pointed to the ‘O’ Datiwa Meter’ initiative, which subsidizes electricity meters for residents to promote transparency and fairness.
