Victor Osimhen says Napoli treated him poorly, calling him “like a dog” after a fallout with the club ahead of Galatasaray’s UCL tie

Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian international striker for Galatasaray, has revealed that his former club, Napoli, treated him “like a dog” following a disagreement over his transfer.

The disclosure came ahead of Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg tie on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen said he had a gentleman’s agreement to leave Napoli the following summer, but the club did not honour the arrangement.

“They tried to send me everywhere, they treated me like a dog. Go here, go there, do this, do that,” he said.

Osimhen added that the treatment was unacceptable and conflicted with his professional efforts. “I worked so hard for my career, I could not accept that kind of treatment. I’m not a puppet,” he stated.

The striker’s comments follow Napoli releasing a TikTok video mocking him for missing a penalty against Bologna in a previous season, a move that Osimhen suggested reflected a broader lack of respect during his time at the Italian club.
