Osun APC denies endorsement of candidates for 2027 National and State Assembly elections, urging members to focus on upcoming governorship poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dismissed claims that its leadership has endorsed candidates for the 2027 National Assembly and House of Assembly elections. The clarification was issued on Monday, 9 March 2026, by Tajudeen Lawal, state chairman of the party.

Lawal stated that no meeting had been held, nor any decision taken, regarding the anointment of aspirants for the upcoming legislative contests. He described the circulating reports as “false claims” intended to sow tension within the party.

“There is no iota of truth in the claim that the leadership of the party has anointed candidates for the National and House of Assembly elections,” Lawal said.

He added that the misinformation was being spread by individuals seeking to destabilise the APC ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The state chairman called on party members to focus on the governorship race, urging support for the party’s candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and his running mate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti.

Lawal emphasised that victory in the governorship poll would lay the groundwork for other electoral contests in Osun State.

“What should preoccupy the minds of our members now is the concerted effort to work collectively for the victory of our governorship candidate and his running mate,” he said, warning against internal discord motivated by personal political ambitions.

Reaffirming the APC’s position, Lawal insisted that the party leadership had not endorsed any aspirant for the National Assembly or State House of Assembly elections. He described claims to the contrary as deliberate falsehoods aimed at undermining party cohesion.
