The Oyo salary ₦10,000 transport support initiative, according to the governor, is designed to cushion transportation and petrol costs for workers amid ongoing economic pressures affecting households across the state.

Makinde disclosed that the payment would apply to all categories of government workers on a flat-rate basis, stressing that it would run initially for three months but could be extended depending on prevailing economic conditions.

He noted that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to worker welfare and described it as a necessary response to the current cost-of-living challenges confronting citizens.

The governor further hinted that the intervention could be expanded beyond state workers, adding that modalities were being considered to ensure broader inclusiveness and fairness in implementation.

Makinde also emphasised the importance of policy continuity as his administration approaches its final phase, stating that efforts are underway to ensure that impactful programmes remain sustainable beyond his tenure.
