PDP Chairman Speaks On Running For A Second Term
PDP chairman in Lagos State, Adedeji Doherty finally breaks silence on plans for a second term.
Speaking to newsmen on Friday (today) Adedeji he would not run for a second term of office.
“I remain in PDP but will not run for a second term as PDP Lagos State Chairman,’’ he said in a statement.
“My experience as chairman over the years has been eventful and has taught me more about life, especially as it relates to my relationship with God.
“I am staying out of the race as a sacrifice I have to make in order to create the emergence of a new team of administrators; those I believe should ultimately bring a semblance of peace and unity to the party,’’ he said.
Doherty decried numerous crises periods within the party as well as the sudden death of important members of the party.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives at different points, particularly to different illnesses, and especially to the COVID-19 virus.
Doherty said that his political career had been fulfilling in the only party he had ever been a member of, the PDP.
He was once the Southwest Zonal Financial Secretary, the Organising Secretary, and later Acting Vice-Chairman of the Southwest zone, before becoming the chairman in November 2019.
He expressed appreciation to all loyal executive members, the Local Government Chairmen’s Forum, and various leaders and party members at the respective levels of the party structure for their support.
Doherty commended all members for the tolerance and patience exhibited during his tenure.
He urged major stakeholders of the party to close ranks and show more love to its teeming members.
Doherty advised stakeholders to believe in themselves as it concerns resolving internal disagreements, rather than expecting party conflicts to be settled by leaders from other states.
“It is really embarrassing as leaders and elders of the party in Lagos State that we can’t resolve our differences internally and amicably without the intervention of external bodies.
“This shouldn’t have occurred at all if we as leaders had put the party first before considering our personal interests,’’ he stressed.
The chairman also called on national leaders of the party to lead by example by taking decisive disciplinary actions on erring members across the nation as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
According to him, though such action can have a short-term setback, it will definitely have a long-term positive effect on the psyche of members.
Doherty advised that all and sundry should extend the olive branch, ensure, love, embrace forgiveness and togetherness as members of one great indivisible political family.

A group, the Imo First Group (IFG) has described the purported Magistrate court order to arrest Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, over alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery, as a ruse and fake news
The group stated this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.
IFG challenged those peddling the fake news to make the court order public.
The statement reads ” The fabricated and concocted story was first posted on social media by Hon. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, a media aide to Governor Hope Uzodimma, before it was picked up by other media outfits, including Arise TV.
According to the statement, those behind the report claimed that a Senior Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja issued a Bench Warrant dated September 9, 2026, following a petition written by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo State, Barr. Chukwuemeka Ibejiako, to the Police and DSS on October 8, 2026, over alleged presentation of fake APC primary results.
The Group debunked the existence of any such order.
“We want to state categorically and unequivocally that no jSenior Magistrate ordered or issued any bench warrant for the arrest of Araraume”
IFG however challenged anyone in possession of the purported court order to publish it.
“If you claim to have a court order present same for the public to see,
“This fabricated bench warrant contain in the report is filled with inconsistencies, the bench warrant was dated September 9, 2026, while the REC’s petition that supposedly triggered it was dated October 8, 2026, with case number CR/M/084/2026.
The statement further stated that the purveyors and harbinger of the fake news tried to trick the magistrate via exparte order but was rebuked
“The magistrate bluntly refused to grant their exparte and threatened to arrest them, yet they carried their falsehood about. What’s the problem of occupants of office that never won free and fair elections and tried to destroy reputable Imo sons that have won elections. We challenge anyone in this macabre surugede dance to show the court order or warrant of arrest. It’s preposterous to blackmail decent Imo sons on the altar of dirty politics.”
