In a Facebook post titled “The Day Peter Obi Surprised Me With Ghana Must Go,” Charly Boy revealed that Obi called him around 1 a.m. requesting to visit early the next morning.

He wrote in pidgin English, “Peter Obi call me say, ‘My Senior bros, I wan come see you, but I no too sure if u fit don wake about the time I for like come.’ Like what time? I asked. ‘Maybe around 5:30 or 6.’”

Despite the early hour, Charly Boy welcomed him. At exactly 5:45 a.m., Obi arrived promptly—no African time, as Charly Boy put it.

Upon Obi’s arrival, a large Ghana Must Go bag was placed at Charly Boy’s sitting room entrance. Curious, he wondered what was inside.

They spent nearly two hours discussing politics, Nigeria, and family matters. After Obi left, Charly Boy opened the bag to find it packed with three bottles of roasted groundnuts, alligator peppers, kola nuts, pawpaw, oranges, agara, mangos, bananas, and other traditional snacks — all packed by Obi himself.

Charly Boy laughed and called Obi to thank him, only to be told, “Senior I no fit give you money, but I fit give you this one, na my hand pick.”

The activist said the gesture touched him deeply, explaining, “Sometimes na the little things go remind you say life no too hard. Na kolanut and bitter kola wey Obi dash me sweet me pass money.”
