Peter firmly replied that focusing on his solo career means the group is “never coming back together.” He tweeted: “There will be nothing like Psquare forever. There’s time for everything.”

In the same thread, Peter urged fans to support Paul Okoye—known as Rudeboy—and their elder brother Jude, encouraging them to establish their own path. He wrote:

“I am my own Square. Exactly! Judeboy & Rudeboy, that’s the new JPsquare make una manage them. It is their time. I dey on my own dey run my own race. I am my own Square.”

Peter Okoye confirms split but emphasises this move is positive. He later told Cool FM, Lagos, that going solo brings freedom and peace.

“There’s a joy that comes with going solo. Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it, it’s not working,” he said, explaining that it was never about ego but about creative and personal growth.

His comments come after Paul had previously confirmed the split in August 2024, stating that Peter was no longer interested in reviving the group.

Paul had described efforts to heal old wounds but conceded the relationship no longer fit within their creative ambitions.

Peter Okoye confirms split and revealed it aligned with growing tensions over roles and recognition within the group.

In 2024, he publicly criticised Paul’s frequent claims of sole creative credit, and later accused him alongside Jude for mishandling shared intellectual properties and royalties .

There’s a joy that comes with going solo. Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it, it’s not working.

Meanwhile, Peter’s solo career has gained momentum. According to Channels Television, he recently stated his earnings now surpass what he made under the PSquare umbrella.

He argued that this new path lets him create space on his own terms and grow independently.

Peter Okoye confirms split while urging unity outside music. He wrote that the new formation around Judeboy and Rudeboy should be supported. T

his marks a shift in legacy from the PSquare brand toward individual empowerment.

Fans have responded with a mix of nostalgia and encouragement.

Some express sadness over the finality of PSquare’s breakup, but many also applaud Peter for choosing self-determination. The X thread remains active, with fans sharing admiration for his honesty and self‑assertion.

Peter Okoye confirms split could close a major chapter in Nigerian music. PSquare was a powerhouse from the early 2000s through the 2010s, known for hits like “Get Squared,” “Personally” and “E No Easy”.

Their reunion in 2021 rekindled fan hope, but the underlying tensions remained.

With the internal conflicts now public, Peter emphasised his vision: “I am my own Square.” His decision may influence how legacy acts navigate shared identity in the solo era.

The statement challenges the notion that reunion should always be the default path for legacy artists.

Peter Okoye confirms split and sets a precedent for artistic self‑ownership. As he runs his solo race, the supporting roles of his brothers remain pivotal, with Judeboy and Rudeboy stepping into their era.
