Tinubu economic hardship security admission as President acknowledges Nigeria’s challenges and calls for urgent state police approval
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has acknowledged that many Nigerians are still facing significant economic hardship and persistent security challenges across parts of the country, despite ongoing government interventions.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the remarks on Sunday after formally accepting the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential ticket for the 2027 general election.
Tinubu’s remarks on economic hardship and security came amid concerns over rising prices, inflation and worsening public anxiety in several regions.
He stated that his administration was fully aware of the difficulties citizens are experiencing, noting that leadership must be guided by honesty, responsibility and decisive action rather than comfort or distance from public realities.
“However, there are still challenges ahead. Many Nigerians continue to face challenges with increasing prices and changes in the economy,” Tinubu said, adding that his government is working to address these concerns.
The President also admitted that insecurity remains a major issue in some parts of the country, despite increased military operations and investments in security infrastructure.
According to him, the federal government has committed resources to intelligence gathering, surveillance systems and modern security technology aimed at tackling emerging threats.
He further stated that efforts were ongoing to address the root causes of insecurity while strengthening national response mechanisms across affected regions.
Tinubu also renewed his call for the establishment of state police, describing it as a national emergency that requires urgent legislative attention from the National Assembly.
The remarks have added fresh weight to ongoing national debates about economic recovery, governance reforms and the future structure of Nigeria’s security architecture.
