The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, on Sunday, March 30, 2026, stated that Nigerians may in the future call for President Bola Tinubu to remain in office beyond the constitutionally permitted two terms, citing what he described as the President’s decisive leadership and ongoing reforms.

The Tinubu third term demand Oluwo comment was contained in a congratulatory message delivered through his spokesperson, Ibrahim Alli, to mark President Tinubu’s 74th birthday.

In the message, the monarch praised the President’s governance style and expressed confidence in his ability to continue steering national development.

According to the traditional ruler, President Tinubu has demonstrated strong administrative capacity and a willingness to implement tough but necessary economic policies.

He argued that such leadership could eventually prompt Nigerians to consider extending his tenure through constitutional means.

Oba Akanbi described the President as a leader who understands the demands of governance and is not afraid to take firm decisions in the interest of the country.

He suggested that this approach has begun to yield positive outcomes across key sectors of the economy.

He pointed to reported improvements in economic indicators, including the strengthening of the naira, growth in foreign reserves, and increased investor confidence.

He attributed these developments to structural reforms such as exchange rate adjustments, increased oil production, and fiscal policy changes.

The monarch also commended initiatives such as local government autonomy, increased allocations to states, and infrastructure projects across different parts of the country.

He noted that these measures are contributing to economic activity at the grassroots level.

Oba Akanbi added that while previous administrations attempted similar reforms, they often faced resistance that limited their effectiveness.

In contrast, he argued that the current administration has shown resilience in pushing through policies aimed at long term stability.

He concluded that the next phase of governance would be focused on consolidating gains and ensuring that the reforms translate into improved living standards for citizens, while maintaining that strong leadership remains essential for sustained national progress.
