Tottenham agree £34m transfer deal with Atletico Madrid to sign midfielder Conor Gallagher following Rodrigo Bentancur’s long-term injury
Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign midfielder Conor Gallagher in a deal worth £34 million, Sky Sports News reports.
The 25-year-old joined Atletico in the summer of 2024 for around £38 million and is contracted with the Spanish club until 2029.
Both Aston Villa and Tottenham had approached Atletico regarding Gallagher’s transfer.
Spurs moved to strengthen their midfield after Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a hamstring injury, ruling him out for the majority of the season.
Gallagher has long been admired by Tottenham, who were previously interested when he joined Atletico last year.
The deal is expected to bolster Tottenham’s options in central midfield as the club aims to maintain competitiveness domestically and in European competitions.
