Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, have rescued four kidnap victims during separate military operations in Zamfara and Kebbi states as security forces intensify efforts to tackle kidnapping in the North-West.
The victims were freed on Wednesday in operations conducted in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and between Bena and Sawade in Kebbi State.
The spokesman for the 8 Division, Sector 2, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed the development on Thursday.
Osoba said two victims, identified as Mansur Shehu, 25, and Kadijat Haruna, 49, were rescued from a farmland in Binoni Marafa, Maru LGA.
“In Zamfara State, troops rescued Mansur Shehu, aged 25, and Kadijat Haruna, aged 49, from a farmland in Binoni Marafa during the operation,” he said.
In Kebbi State, the troops rescued two other victims, identified as Jimoh Su-Arege, 35, and Kalahe Danjuma, 41, between Bena and Sawade.
According to Osoba, the operation followed reports that suspected terrorists were moving with kidnapped victims from Dipindu village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
“Following the report, troops moved to the area and successfully rescued the two victims, who were subsequently handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu,” he added.
The military spokesman said troops had continued to intensify patrols and surveillance across their areas of responsibility to restrict the movement of criminal groups and prevent further attacks.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly in communities affected by kidnapping and other security threats across the North-West.
The latest rescues form part of ongoing military operations aimed at tackling insecurity and restoring peace to vulnerable communities in Zamfara and Kebbi states.
