Actor Uche Maduagwu slams Davido for prioritising his wedding over speaking on Benue killings, triggering backlash from fans on social media

The controversial Nollywood actor criticised Davido for promoting his wedding plans while ignoring the massacre allegedly carried out by suspected herdsmen militia.

Several Nigerian celebrities have spoken out on social media condemning the tragic attack, which left scores dead in the troubled Middle Belt region. However, Davido, whose wedding to Chioma is scheduled for August, has remained silent on the issue, a move that has drawn the ire of Maduagwu.

In a post shared via Instagram, the actor accused the pop star of ignoring his Nigerian fan base. He stated, “Davido, you are more concerned about your August wedding than the Benue situation.

This is so unfair. Are you saying that the innocent people who lost their lives in Benue are not your fans or that they never listened to your beautiful music?”

Maduagwu further described Davido’s promotional focus on his American wedding as “the height of insensitivity,” adding that public figures have a moral duty to speak out on national tragedies, especially when such events involve the loss of innocent lives.

The post sparked heated reactions across social media, with many fans of the singer defending him. One Instagram user replied, “Go and rest, sir. You look sick,” while another said, “Why not call out your government? Does David own the country?”

Critics accused Maduagwu of using Davido’s name to gain online attention. kukus\_com commented, “Why do you use Davido and family for content all the time, what’s all this madness?” Others questioned the actor’s consistency and accused him of turning serious issues into personal vendettas.
