UNILAG ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike

UNILAG ASUU has commenced an indefinite strike over “amputated” salaries for January and February 2026. Lectures halted until demands are met

The University of Lagos (University of Lagos) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced an indefinite strike, effective from Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The union cited what it described as “amputated” salaries for January and February 2026 as the reason for the industrial action.

The decision was communicated in a statement signed by ASUU UNILAG chairperson Idou Kehinde and secretary Adesina Arikawe following an emergency meeting on Tuesday.

The strike will continue until the university management addresses the union’s concerns. Lectures and academic activities at UNILAG are expected to be disrupted during the industrial action.
