The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, revealed the initiative during a courtesy visit from Taiwanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Andy Yih-Ping Liu, and his delegation.

The project builds on UNN’s recent engagement with Taiwanese institutions, including a landmark visit by Prof. Ortuanya to Taiwan in October 2025.

“The proposed Centre will serve as a multidisciplinary platform promoting business development, educational cooperation, and security studies, while bridging Nigerian and Taiwanese scholarship,” Prof. Ortuanya stated.

He added that the initiative aligns with UNN’s vision to expand international partnerships and position the University as a hub for policy-relevant research in Africa.

Ambassador Liu commended UNN for its proactive approach to global collaboration, highlighting research partnerships, academic exchanges, and institutional development as areas with high potential for mutual benefit.

He emphasized that sustained cooperation would create platforms for innovation, skill development, and cross-border solutions to shared development challenges.

During his visit, the Ambassador is scheduled to tour the proposed Centre’s site, inspect research facilities, and meet with academic departments before departing the University.
