Former INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu has been appointed Nigeria’s ambassador to Qatar by President Tinubu in the latest diplomatic postings
Prof Mahmood Yakubu, former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been appointed as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar.
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
The statement also revealed that former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, was assigned to Germany. These appointments are part of a wider posting of 65 ambassadors whose nominations were confirmed last December.
President Tinubu has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commence induction programmes for the newly designated ambassadors and high commissioners.
This move underscores the administration’s ongoing diplomatic reshuffle and its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s international representation.
