The Yobe State Hisbah Commission raided Walawa community, arresting 84 people and seizing four truckloads of alcohol in a joint security operation

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission, in collaboration with other security agencies, has raided Walawa community in Garin-Alkali, Bursari Local Government Area, leading to mass arrests and seizures.

Confirming the development on Monday, the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Yahuza Hamza, said the operation targeted “immoral and anti-social activities” deemed harmful to society.

“A large consignment of alcohol, equivalent to four truck vehicles fully loaded, was confiscated. A total of 84 persons were arrested, comprising 50 women and 34 men engaged in prostitution,” Hamza disclosed.

He added that all houses linked to the activities were sealed, and the suspects are in custody, pending prosecution under Yobe State laws.

Dr. Hamza reaffirmed the commission’s mission of upholding morality, curbing social vices, and protecting the dignity of women and children in line with Islamic values.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of ongoing efforts to maintain decency and public order across the state.
