The NNPC Foundation, in collaboration with Pan-Atlantic University, is hosting a symposium on May 22-23, 2025, in Lagos, focusing on the role of environmental communication in tackling Nigeria’s energy and climate change challenges

The Centre for Media and Communication Research (CMCR) at Pan-Atlantic University is set to host the NNPC Foundation Symposium on Energy and Sustainable Environment Communication on May 22-23, 2025. The event will take place at the main campus of Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos.

Organized as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the NNPC Foundation, the symposium is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions that leverage environmental communication as a crucial strategy in addressing the pressing challenges of energy and climate change within Nigeria.

The initiative underscores the NNPC Foundation’s commitment to promoting sustainable development across Nigeria’s ecological landscape.

The symposium boasts a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers, including Prof. Abdullahi Bashir, the National President of the African Council of Communication Education; Mr. Martins Oloja, the former Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian newspaper; and Prof. Nuhu Gapsiso from the University of Maiduguri.

In addition to the keynote addresses, the event will also feature notable participants from various sectors, including Mr. Thomas Samuel from the Taraba State Broadcasting Service, Mr. Shina Adesanya, representing a Civil Society Organization, and Dr. Rasaq Adisa from the University of Ilorin.

The NNPC Foundation Symposium promises to be a vital platform for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders to engage in critical discussions, share insights, and explore collaborative strategies for effective environmental communication in the context of Nigeria’s energy future and the urgent need for climate action.
