OGUN STATE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (OSUPAA) HOLDS 4th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Ogun State University Pioneers Alumni Association (OSUPAA) held her 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of new Executive Committee members on Sunday, 27th July, 2025.
Addressing the virtually held Annual General Meeting (AGM), outgoing President of the pioneers’ association, Mrs Funmilayo Olotu, former Manager, Lagos Ports Complex, Apapa expressed appreciation to all members of the association for their cooperation and support during the tenure of the outgoing Executives.
She recalled some of the challenges and achievements recorded by the outgoing team, and called on members not to relent in keeping the flame of the association burning.
During the Olotu-led Administration, OSUPAA built a 8-Room comfort-facility tagged “Legacy Project” to mark 40 years of founding the university and matriculation of Pioneer set.
OSUPAA also held its first Global Reunion and Awards to bring together members across the globe and in honour of outstanding pioneers in various fields of endeavour.
Her address was resoundingly applauded by members, with attendees giving a free flow of glowing commendations to the outgoing executives of the association.
The election of a new Executive Council to govern the association for the next two years followed, and the following members were duly elected:
President – Mrs. Yinka Shokunbi.
Vice President (Nigeria) – Mrs. Olufunmilayo Egbuna.
Vice President (N/A) – Professor Akintunde Lawrence Akinsanmi
Vice President (Europe) – Mr. Adunola Sowemimo.
General Secretary – Mrs. Olukemi Somoye.
Ass Gen Sec. – Pastor Mrs. Olubunmi Bajomo.
Treasurer – Mrs. Abimbola Daisi-Daini
Financial Secretary – Mr. Babatunde Oduwaiye.
PRO/Socials – Evangelist Kayode Ajala.
Chief Whip – Duchess Ibilola Akinwunmi.
Welfare Officer – Mrs. Olubunmi Owoeye.
Legal Officer – Barrister Ayodele Omotara
The Ogun State University Pioneers Alumni Association (OSUPAA) is an association of the foundation students of Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, now known as Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. The association seeks to foster the development of the University and to promote the welfare of her ageing members.
Governor Dauda Lawal has distributed official vehicles to higher institutions to strengthen the capacity, efficiency, and effectiveness of Zamfara State’s education system.
The distribution of the official vehicles was held on Friday at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.
A statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the vehicles are institutional assets and operational tools to support administration, supervision, accreditation, official engagements, and other legitimate responsibilities of the benefiting institutions.
The statement noted that institutions and offices allocated brand-new vehicles are Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State University, Talata Mafara, and Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara.
Other beneficiaries are the College of Nursing & Midwifery, Gusau; the Teachers Service Board; the Senior Secondary School Board; Quality Assurance; ZACAS; and other State Government Public Institutions.
In his remarks, Governor Lawal reiterated that the initiative will increase the productivity of Zamfara State public office holders by providing reliable transportation, enabling them to deliver services more effectively and quickly.
He said, “It is important to emphasise that these vehicles are not personal entitlements for any office holder. They remain the property of the Zamfara State Government and must be used responsibly and strictly for official purposes.
“I expect institutions to be responsible for custody, deployment, maintenance, and documentation. Heads will be accountable for misuse, unauthorised use, or unnecessary deterioration of assets.
“As the government invests in education, we must foster a culture of maintenance and accountability. Public assets should provide value throughout their life. We must commit to higher standards of service, emphasising transparency and accountability.
“Our administration will continue to provide the infrastructure, equipment, and institutional support needed to improve higher education in Zamfara State. In return, we expect responsible leadership, prudent management, and measurable improvements in academic and administrative performance.”
Governor Lawal further congratulated the benefiting institutions and urged them to ensure that the vehicles serve the institutions, students, and the people of Zamfara State rather than individual interests.
