A 45-year-old suspect involved in the killing of NSCDC officer Bashir Adamu-Jibril in Jigawa died after escaping handcuffs and falling from a moving vehicle during transport. The Corps vows to uphold justice

A suspect linked to the brutal killing of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) officer in Jigawa has died after falling off a moving vehicle during transport.

The incident was confirmed by NSCDC spokesman ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani on Saturday in Dutse.

The deceased officer, Superintendent Bashir Adamu-Jibril, who served in the Department of Intelligence and Investigation, was reportedly attacked by hoodlums wielding machetes at Shuwarin market in Kiyawa Local Government while on official duty.

The 45-year-old suspect, a resident of Shuwarin Town, was arrested on August 7 following credible intelligence about his involvement.

However, during transport to command headquarters, the suspect escaped from handcuffs, jumped from the speeding vehicle, and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at Dutse General Hospital.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its dedication to justice for the fallen officer and maintaining law and order in the state.
