The resignation of Dr Babatunde Soaga was received by the National Executive Council in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, 2026, according to a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer, Engr Tajudeen Oketokun.

Dr Soaga said his health condition could affect his ability to effectively discharge the demanding responsibilities of the office.

Dr Soaga thanked the council and members of the Association for the opportunity to serve and said he would continue to support the organisation despite stepping down.

Following the development, the National Executive Council directed the Assistant National General Secretary, Mr Kamorudeen Adegbokiki, to assume office in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive office holder in line with the Association’s constitution.

Mr Adegbokiki is a public servant and administrator and a member of Club 940, one of the alumni groups within the Association.

His appointment is seen within the organisation as a stabilising move designed to ensure continuity in the operations of the secretariat.

As Acting National General Secretary, Mr Adegbokiki will oversee all secretariat operations and official correspondence of the Association.

Members have been advised that all matters relating to the secretariat should now be directed to his office.

The National President of the Association, Barrister Taofeek Bola Shittu, assured members of the leadership’s continued commitment to service and the progress of the Association and its alma mater.
