In a viral video with dancer Poco Lee, the singer was asked to choose between Lagos and Los Angeles, cities that have shaped his life. Without hesitation, Asake replied:

“Lagos now.”

The 30-year-old relocated to Los Angeles in 2024 to gain global exposure, but he explained in a 2025 interview with Office Magazine that life abroad is not very different from Nigeria.

People everywhere are chasing dreams, building wealth, and creating opportunities, he said.

Despite living in one of the world’s busiest entertainment hubs, Asake prefers a quiet and reflective lifestyle.

He spends much of his time alone to stay connected to himself.

The singer also opened up about his early career struggles, revealing how his choice to sing predominantly in Yoruba limited performance opportunities, a challenge he overcame on his path to stardom.
