US visa restrictions clarification issued by US Mission in Nigeria, stating travel policies are reviewable and guided by global security standards

The United States Mission in Nigeria has stated that visa restrictions imposed on travellers are not permanent, stressing that its travel policies remain subject to continuous review in response to evolving global security requirements on 30 March 2026.

The United States Mission in Nigeria, the diplomatic representation responsible for consular and diplomatic engagement between both countries, said the US visa restrictions clarification reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen international security systems, including screening, vetting, identity management, and immigration procedures.

In a statement released on Monday, the Mission explained that improvements in these areas are essential for ensuring safer international travel and more secure borders across countries involved in global mobility systems.
