Portugal international forward Pedro Neto has expressed satisfaction after his side secured a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in a friendly match on Wednesday night at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, describing the result as an encouraging step in their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Portugal secure friendly win against Nigeria, seeing Roberto Martinez’s side produce a composed performance against the Super Eagles, with Neto opening the scoring in the 23rd minute after a sustained spell of early pressure from the hosts.

The Chelsea winger’s effort marked his first goal in four months for both club and country, a timely return to form that was met with visible relief and celebration from the Portuguese bench.

Nigeria responded in the first half through Sevilla forward Akor Adams, who levelled the contest in the 37th minute with a well-taken finish that briefly shifted momentum in favour of the visitors.

However, Portugal eventually restored their advantage in the second half when substitute Francisco Conceicao struck 15 minutes from time to seal the win and ensure a positive conclusion for the home side.
