DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development in a statement to newsmen in Uyo.

DSP John said three suspects were arrested during the operation, which followed a report from a concerned citizen about a group specialising in defrauding members of the public using tricycles.

“The Akwa Ibom Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on February 3, at about 3:30 p.m., acting on credible intelligence, we successfully dismantled a suspected fraud syndicate operating within Uyo,” the PPRO said.

The suspects reportedly used a tricycle to lure and transport victims, employing deceptive methods to dispossess them of money and valuables.

Police operatives recovered the syndicate’s operational tricycle, registered UFG-886-QA, during the raid.

According to DSP John, the suspects have confessed to defrauding several individuals in Uyo.

Investigations are ongoing to identify additional victims and apprehend other members of the syndicate.
