Anambra police arrest Ugochukwu Uzor for murder of Assembly member Azuka Justice, recovering firearm and ammunition during major operation

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 26-year-old Ugochukwu Uzor, who confessed to leading multiple criminal gangs and participating in the murder of Anambra State House of Assembly.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s spokesperson, said Uzor was apprehended during a major offensive in Iyiowa Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area.

The suspect sustained severe injuries during the operation and was arrested by Rapid Response Squad operatives from Awkuzu.

“During the operation, one locally made Beretta pistol and eleven rounds of live ammunition were recovered,” Ikenga said.

He added that Uzor admitted responsibility for the abduction and killing of the lawmaker and confirmed his leadership of several criminal gangs operating across Anambra and neighbouring states.

The suspect, described as having a tattoo bearing the inscriptions “No Forgiveness” and “No Mercy,” is known for a history of violent offences.

According to Ikenga, Uzor’s arrest marks a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates in the state.

Hon. Justice was abducted along Ugwunabankpa Road, Inland Town, Onitsha, His body was later recovered after other suspects led police to the dump site.
