Newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu following her appointment, pledging to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement and advance national interests globally.

In a post on her verified X account on Thursday, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu described her appointment as a privilege and a responsibility, noting that she is committed to justifying the confidence reposed in her.

She stated that she was deeply honoured by the appointment, which was made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 29, 2026, following the resignation of former minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu thanked the President for his trust and said she views the role as a call to greater national service, particularly in advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.

She added that her focus will include strengthening the country’s diplomatic relations in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and enhancing citizen-centred diplomacy.

The minister also reaffirmed her commitment to representing Nigeria effectively on the global stage, pledging dedication to promoting national interests and international cooperation.
