The landmark event aimed to open direct lines of communication with users and address key concerns surrounding trust, privacy, and in-trip experiences.

Held recently, the forum brought together a diverse group of participants including passengers, drivers, regulators, Bolt Business clients, media professionals, influencers, and members of the Bolt team.

The objective: create a human-centred dialogue around safety in the country’s expanding mobility space.

In candid and unscripted conversations, riders shared their real-life experiences and concerns—ranging from data privacy breaches to unclear verification systems and fare disputes.

One recurring issue was drivers allegedly taking screenshots of rider information. Users urged Bolt to implement bank-grade privacy standards.

A concern over air-conditioning usage in the Economy category also sparked debate about service expectations, comfort, and communication.

Director of Public Transport Commuter Services, Engr. Adebayo Olusoji, delivered a keynote at the event, highlighting the importance of shared responsibility among platforms, passengers, and regulators.

“Continuous education, community engagement, and enforcement are crucial to making ride-hailing safer for everyone,” he noted.

Bolt showcased its existing safety features, including:

  • Trip sharing
  • Audio trip recording
  • Driver and rider verification
  • Emergency assist button
  • In-trip insurance
  • 24/7 customer support

The company encouraged greater use of these tools and reaffirmed its commitment to user safety.

Weyinmi Aghadiuno, Head of Regulatory and Policy at Bolt, emphasized the initiative’s deeper mission:

“This isn’t just about enforcing platform rules; it’s about co-creating solutions that reflect the real experiences of riders and drivers.”

An engaging role-play session between passengers and drivers dramatized common points of friction, such as payment issues and service miscommunication—highlighting the need for empathy, respect, and dialogue.

Bolt confirmed that this event marks the beginning of a nationwide engagement strategy to promote a safer, more inclusive, and responsive ride-hailing ecosystem in Nigeria.
