Davido opens up on wife Chioma’s comforting words after his Grammy loss, sharing photos and appreciation for her support
Award-winning Nigerian singer David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has credited his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, for her comforting words following his loss at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
Davido’s song “With You”, featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category but lost to South African artist Tyla’s “Push 2 Start”.
The category featured strong Nigerian representation, including Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Omah Lay, and Eddy Kenzo, yet no Nigerian nominee secured the award.
In a post on X, Davido revealed that he initially hesitated to attend the Grammy after-party but was encouraged by Chioma, who advised, “Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside.” The singer shared photos from the outing, expressing gratitude for his wife’s wise counsel and support.
The singer’s public acknowledgment of Chioma’s encouragement highlights the role of personal support networks in coping with high-pressure moments in international music competitions.
