Speaking in a recent interview, Don Jazzy admitted that he still thinks about the chances he missed to sign Simi, Teni, Falz and even Davido.

Don Jazzy, who is known for discovering and nurturing some of Nigeria’s biggest talents, said he had the opportunity to sign Davido but chose not to, believing the young artist was already on a path to greatness.

He also reflected on how close he came to working with rapper Falz, revealing that a potential deal nearly materialised but fell through.

I like Simi. I didn’t sign her. I wish I did. I like Teni. I wish I did… At the end of the day, you cannot sign everybody.

As for Wizkid, he clarified that the singer was already signed to Banky W’s EME label at the time, making any new contract impossible.

I like Simi. I didn’t sign her. I wish I did. I like Teni. I wish I did… At the end of the day, you cannot sign everybody.

Don Jazzy’s comments highlight the unpredictability of the music industry, where even the most talented executives can’t always predict or secure the next big star.

“You can’t sign everybody, no matter how talented they are,” he concluded.

The Mavin boss has played a key role in shaping Afrobeats globally, launching the careers of artists like Tiwa Savage, Rema, Ayra Starr and Korede Bello.
