Senator Shehu Sani has begged Northern youths not to avenge the killing of an APC chieftain, Ahmed Gulak, in Owerri, Imo state on Sunday, May 30.

Late Gulak was killed by unknown gunmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on his way to catch his flight at the Sam Mbakwe Airport. After the incident, some Northern youths have threatened to retaliate if the killers are not brought to justice. The police have since identified and killed the assailants who murdered Gulak.

In a statement released today May 31, Sani who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Assembly, appealed with his kinsmen in the North to avoid a major conflict with the Igbo by not revenging Gulak’s death.

“The cold blood murder of Ahmed Gulak in Owerri stands unreservedly condemned.

The murder has all the elements of some forces trying to trigger an inter-ethnic war between Northerners and the Igbo.

We must resist that plot. The statement by IPOB dissociating themselves from such despicable and barbaric act and even extending their condolences to the family of the late Gulak should be accepted in good faith.
