Ebonyi Police social media conduct warning was issued on Tuesday by the State Commissioner of Police, Hope Okafor, during a meeting with officers and men of the command in Abakaliki.

Okafor stated that the directive followed a recent conference between the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Force Management Team, aimed at reinforcing discipline and professionalism within the Force.

The Commissioner reminded officers that the presidential directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP protection duties remains active and must be strictly obeyed.

She urged personnel to uphold transparency, accountability, and a citizen-focused approach in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

Okafor also directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to ensure their contact numbers are clearly displayed within their jurisdictions to improve public accessibility and trust.

She further instructed senior officers to maintain regular engagement with the public and ensure constant sensitisation of their subordinates on civility and professional conduct.

Emphasising discipline, the Commissioner directed officers to wear their uniforms with pride and ensure proper display of name tags and identification numbers at all times.

She instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of X-Squad to intensify monitoring of personnel and ensure strict sanctions for defaulters.

The Commissioner also reminded officers of the Ebonyi Police social media conduct warning, urging them to remain mindful of their online activities in line with the Force policy.

With the election season approaching, Okafor charged Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders to strengthen intelligence gathering and intensify raids on criminal hideouts and black spots across the state.
