In a notice to shareholders, the pan-African banking group disclosed that an Extraordinary General Meeting will be held virtually, where the Ecobank Eurobond issuance proposal will be presented for consideration and approval.

The proposed Eurobond programme is expected to give the lender access to international debt capital markets, improving liquidity and enabling the diversification of funding sources amid tightening global financial conditions.

The move comes as African financial institutions increasingly turn to global markets to raise long-term capital, manage risk exposure and finance expansion strategies across regional economies.

Analysts say the proposed issuance, if approved, could strengthen Ecobank’s ability to navigate global liquidity pressures while sustaining its growth trajectory across its pan-African operations.

Ecobank Group, the parent company of Ecobank Nigeria Limited, recently reported a strong financial performance for the 2025 fiscal year, with net revenue rising by 17 percent to $2.5 billion from $2.1 billion in the previous year.

The results showed growth across key divisions, including Corporate and Investment Banking, which rose by 21 percent, and Consumer and Commercial Banking, which increased by 14 percent, supported by higher transaction volumes and expanding payment revenues.

Pre-tax profit climbed 21 percent to $801 million, while net profit rose 22 percent to $407 million, reflecting improved operational efficiency and strong business performance across regions.
