Federal Unity Colleges reopening: all 47 schools resume classes as government strengthens security to ensure student safety and uninterrupted education

The federal government has reopened all 47 Federal Unity Colleges previously closed due to rising insecurity in parts of the country, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding students and ensuring uninterrupted education.

The announcement was made by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, on Thursday.

She confirmed that academic activities have resumed following enhancements to security measures within and around affected schools.

Students have returned safely, with many completing December academic programmes and examinations.

“The Federal Ministry of Education assures parents, guardians, and the general public that the safety, welfare, and well-being of students remain a top priority,” Boriowo said.

She added that the government is working closely with relevant security agencies to maintain stability and restore normalcy within school environments nationwide.

The administration emphasises human capital development and recognises education as a critical pillar for national growth.

“The safe return of students and the successful conduct of examinations in several Unity Colleges underscore the government’s resolve to keep learning on track despite prevailing challenges,” Boriowo said, praising the cooperation of parents, school administrators, and students.
