This crucial alert comes after a fraudulent Facebook account emerged, falsely representing the Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed.

Speaking from Abuja on Friday, the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, revealed that the deceptive account has been actively used to disseminate false information, promise lucrative contracts, solicit various forms of assistance, and even offer rewards to unsuspecting members of the public.

“The Ministry firmly disassociates itself from this impersonation and urges the public to disregard any messages from the fake account, which is not an official channel,” Ebienfa stated emphatically.

He further clarified that Ambassador Ahmed does not operate or own any social media accounts, reinforcing the fraudulent nature of the profile.

The spokesperson advised the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid engaging with any individuals or groups behind such deceptive schemes, highlighting their harmful and fraudulent intent. He assured the public that the Ministry is taking proactive steps to address the issue.

Ebienfa confirmed that the Ministry is actively collaborating with relevant security agencies and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to thoroughly investigate the origins of the fake account and ensure its swift shutdown.

This collaborative effort aims to protect the public from falling victim to these online scams and to maintain the integrity of official communication channels.
