Dala Inland Dry Port Ltd denies claims that Ganduje’s family owns shares, saying neither they nor Kano State have equity or board seats.

The management of Dala Inland Dry Port Limited has firmly denied reports circulating on social media alleging that the family of former Kano State Governor and ex-APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, owns shares in the company.

In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, the Company Secretary, Adamu Sanda, described the reports as “false, misleading, and politically motivated.”

“Verified records from the Corporate Affairs Commission and official board resolutions clearly show that no member of the Ganduje family has ever been a shareholder, director, or signatory in Dala Inland Dry Port,” Sanda said.

The company clarified that neither the Ganduje family nor the Kano State Government has ever owned a stake in the logistics project, located in Zawaciki, Kano.

Sanda debunked viral claims that Ganduje’s children were secretly allotted five million shares each through an “ordinary resolution.”

“This claim is a fabrication. The alleged resolution document is not authentic and was never agreed upon by the board,” he stated, insisting that Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) records contain no evidence of such share allotments.

The statement clarified that the company’s current ownership structure involves a major investor, City Green Enterprises (CGE), which holds 80%, while original founder Ahmad Rabi’u retains 20%, though this portion is reportedly not fully paid for.

At no point, Sanda emphasised, has the Kano State Government been involved in shareholding, ownership, or board representation.

The company also denied that Abdullahi Haruna, said to be representing Kano State, sits on its board. “He does not,” Sanda stated plainly.

Furthermore, claims that the Kano State Government owns 20% equity** were dismissed as completely baseless.

“Kano State’s involvement was limited to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) infrastructure support facilitated by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council — not equity investment,” the company said.

CSR contributions, it added, do not equate to ownership and were provided solely to aid the revival of the port, which had been dormant for years.

The Dala Inland Dry Port, first conceived in the early 2000s, is intended to decongest Nigeria’s seaports by providing inland freight and logistics infrastructure. Strategically located in Kano, the facility is meant to serve as a trade gateway for the northern region.

However, the project has faced political tension, legal disputes, and investment-related controversies, particularly since Ganduje left office in 2023.

Observers believe the renewed controversy linking Ganduje’s family to the port may stem from ongoing political struggles in Kano State, where Ganduje’s political influence has been waning amidst various investigations and internal APC conflicts.
