Speaking at the 4th Asiwaju of Remo Christian Choir Festival held at Abraham Tabernacle Ecumenical Worship Centre in Sagamu, Daniel noted that local government administration had been neglected in the past but was now being revitalised through increased funding and autonomy.

According to him, “Before this administration, local government administration did not exist. Now, with more funds and genuine autonomy, the narrative has changed.”

Gbenga Daniel also addressed the establishment of the South-West Development Commission, stating that although many were initially sceptical, it has now become a strategic move with the president’s assent.

He described the commission as a form of quasi-regional government.

“What this means is that aside from the federal, the state and the local government, we now have a quasi-regional government. And when you look at what the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, did when we had a regional government, then you can begin to appreciate the strategic direction of Mr President,” he said.

On the topic of state creation, Daniel confirmed that stakeholders in Ogun had agreed on the creation of a new Ijebu-Remo State.

He highlighted it as a unifying step forward, reflecting broad consensus across local communities.

He further commended the recently passed presidential tax bill, calling it a welcome development. He said it would improve allocations and accelerate economic progress, especially in the South-West.

Despite ongoing economic challenges, Daniel encouraged Nigerians to praise God through music, stating that gratitude remains essential in times of hardship.

Reflecting on the Asiwaju of Remo Christian Choir Festival, he said, “The seed planted 17 years ago has grown to become a tree under which several people get spiritual nourishment through songs. I pray for spiritual sustenance and guidance for this to continue to grow and impact lives.”

He praised the nine choirs who participated in the festival, describing their performances as deeply inspiring and spiritually enriching.

He also commended the organisers for using music to foster moral and spiritual growth.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State was represented by his deputy, Dr Olaide Adelani, who applauded Daniel for his continued efforts in uniting people through music and faith.

He also recognised the contribution of former First Lady Yeye Olufunke Daniel, noting her supportive role in the success of the event.
